Before you install: confirm the problem and close the game
First launch the unmodified game at your monitor's native resolution. Check normal gameplay, a cutscene, the pause menu, map, HUD edges, and skill tree so you know whether the problem is black bars, a cropped image, stretched rendering, limited field of view, or a menu-only layout issue. Record the game build and current resolution before changing any files.
Exit the game completely before installing the fix. Do not leave the game or its launcher updating in the background, and remove any older ultrawide injector before testing this package. The instructions below are for the Windows Steam layout used by the current v1.3.1 archive.
Step 1: download v1.3.1 from an original address
Download only from the original GitHub release at https://github.com/therake620-collab/Beast-of-reincarnation-Ultrawide-fix-/releases/tag/1.3 or the original Nexus Mods page at https://www.nexusmods.com/beastofreincarnation/mods/17. Do not download a repack from a mirror, video description, or file-sharing site.
The current GitHub asset is named Beast_of_Reincarnation_Ultrawide_Fix_v1.3.1.zip. Choose one download location only; the GitHub and Nexus packages are alternative distribution pages, not two fixes that should be installed together. Keep the downloaded ZIP outside the game directory until the backup is complete.
Step 2: open the correct Beast of Reincarnation folder
In Steam, open Library, right-click Beast of Reincarnation, select Manage, and choose Browse local files. A default Steam installation is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BeastOfReincarnation, but use Steam's Browse local files command if your library is on another drive.
You are in the correct root when it contains the existing BeastOfReincarnation folder. Do not extract the archive into BeastOfReincarnation\Binaries\Win64 manually, and do not create an extra Beast_of_Reincarnation_Ultrawide_Fix_v1.3.1 folder inside the game. The archive already contains the required BeastOfReincarnation\Binaries\Win64 structure.
Step 3: back up files that may be replaced
Open BeastOfReincarnation\Binaries\Win64 and check for dsound.dll, dwmapi.dll, BeastOfReincarnationFix.asi, BeastOfReincarnationFix.ini, and an ue4ss folder. If any already exist, copy them to a clearly named backup folder outside the game directory before continuing. Existing copies usually mean another injector, UE4SS installation, or an older version of this fix is present.
If none of those paths exist in a clean installation, save the list so you know which files were added. Do not back up or delete save data for this procedure. When updating an older fix, preserve custom configuration files before allowing the new archive to overwrite them.
Step 4: extract the archive into the game root
Open Beast_of_Reincarnation_Ultrawide_Fix_v1.3.1.zip and extract its entire contents into the main BeastOfReincarnation game directory—the folder opened by Steam's Browse local files command. The archive's top-level BeastOfReincarnation folder must merge with the game's existing folder.
After extraction, confirm that BeastOfReincarnation\Binaries\Win64 contains BeastOfReincarnationFix.asi, BeastOfReincarnationFix.ini, dsound.dll, dwmapi.dll, and the ue4ss folder. If those files are nested one folder deeper, the archive was extracted to the wrong location. When Windows asks about overwriting files during an update, continue only after the originals and custom settings have been backed up.
Step 5: configure aspect ratio, HUD, FOV, and camera distance
The main fix file is BeastOfReincarnation\Binaries\Win64\BeastOfReincarnationFix.ini. Under [Fix Aspect Ratio] and [Fix HUD], keep Enabled = true to apply the ultrawide aspect-ratio and interface corrections. Leave the developer console disabled unless you specifically need it for troubleshooting.
For gameplay FOV and camera distance, edit BeastOfReincarnation\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\StableCameraCpp\config.ini with a plain-text editor. Under [Camera], set EnableFOV=1 and choose a starting value such as FOV=75.0. To change distance, set EnableCameraDistance=1 and CameraDistance=245.0. Save the file, then restart the game; FOV changes are applied during gameplay and require a restart. Menus, the title screen, and cutscenes retain the game's original FOV.
Step 6: launch and verify every affected screen
Launch the game normally through Steam and load a safe save. Confirm that gameplay fills the 21:9 or 32:9 display without black bars, then inspect the HUD, map, inventory, pause menu, skill tree, a dialogue, and a cutscene. Make sure edge prompts remain visible and the skill tree can still be selected normally.
If gameplay is too close or too distant, close the game, adjust only one FOV or camera-distance value, and relaunch. Do not judge the FOV setting from the title screen or cutscenes because v1.3.1 intentionally applies the configurable value to gameplay only.
Troubleshooting and clean uninstall
If nothing changes, confirm that BeastOfReincarnationFix.asi and the two DLL files are directly inside BeastOfReincarnation\Binaries\Win64 rather than an extra nested folder. If the game crashes on launch, restore the backed-up dsound.dll, dwmapi.dll, and UE4SS files, then test without other injectors or overlays. The author notes that the fix is not perfect, so occasional artifacts or black bars can still appear in some situations.
To uninstall, close the game and remove only the files and folders added by this archive. Restore every backed-up file afterward. If UE4SS was already used by other mods, do not delete the entire ue4ss folder; restore the recorded pre-install state instead. Finally use Steam's Verify integrity of game files command if a shipped file was overwritten or the game no longer launches. Save data is not part of this removal process.
